entry number 400

this morning i spent some time scanning and uploading various photos from the past like 2 months. so we gots some halloween, some musical filming, some pregnant ellie, some cirque du soleil, a little bit of nuala's birthday thrown in for good measure, and some random christmas cards.

let me walk you thru them.

first off, ellie. she's been pregnant. kristen asked for a picture and i took one about 2 months ago. she is so much more pregnant now, but that is besides the point.

she's so cute! and she hates having her picture taken, so this means she really must like you kristen, to let me take her picture for you to see. or at least it means she likes me. she wants to see return of the king again too, maybe we should all see it together and then you could see her in super preggers mode with your own two eyeballs.

next up we have halloween. we already had gene's pictures of the self-same event, but i have a couple more. =)

i like the one of erica by herself best. something about the hair and the shorts and the socks, really it was just great. kind of mesmerizing.

nuala's birthday! this was so long ago and she's so much older now! kim recently gave me some pictures she had taken and then kristen berated me publicly (comment #2) for like three weeks demanding to know when i was going to scan the pictures and put them up for her enjoyment.

nuala is such a cutie. and that trip was hella fun with all the eating and sunbathing, mmm, let's go back!

musical filming which is not yet complete, but the vast majority of which has been chronicled in these whole whopping three pictures i took. (didn't anyone else take any pictures?) one of them i got in trouble for because the clicking of the camera got picked up by the boom mike.

le sigh. musical peeps, watch out! jason is planning a film party where people other than us will see this horrific excuse for a singing extravaganza! plus, he's going to get peed on. (jason: i'm so excited about that! i'm sorry i had to hang up on you yesterday.)

cirque du soleil's last night in town was spent by me and everybody else in hard hats running around tearing shit apart, packing, and injuring ourselves. cort was bleeding profusely from a finger and i pulled a ligament in my knee and spent all of christmas in oregon laid up pretty much. but it was great! i was there from 11am-11:30pm and i didn't want to leave. it was kind of sad to have to give up the whole circus experience. and now i once again don't have a job but i have like 3 pictures and that's just going to have to do me. it's pathetic, because like 3 or 4 pictures of me in a hard hat were taken, but none of them came out. and at least one of them had a flash, so i'm confused about what happened. whatever.

lastly, we have the "christmas cards which come in the mail with pictures of children you've never seen before in your life on them" segment of this post. we returned home from oregon last night and going thru all the mail we discovered these two (two) xmas cards which violent goobers on them. (note: goobers means kids. i called the kids in oregon 'goobers' all week-long.) i personally am fascinated by these cards in all their similarities. it's like the civil war movie ads: 'the war which pitted brother (sister) against brother (sister)! north against south! poop against pee! large, red, bulbous noses against the classic grecian profile! the humanity! the idiocy! the hirsute-ness of it all! lordy, lordy save us!'

heave ho

this morning i was awoken by curtis and dan busting down my door and flinging pillows at my head. giggling like school-girls, those boys are a menace to all peacefully sleeping little sisters everywhere.

then they told me about curtis' new book. the pop-up kama sutra with paper penii and paper slits. they were mostly impressed by this one where the girl is being lowered by string onto the boy (probably on top of an elephant). very delicate machinery. i was delighted, as i always am delighted by rope and pulley systems of sex.

they, on the other hand, were a trifle startled by my having owned the kama sutra (non pop-up version) since 10th grade. what's the big though? instructional manuals are important once you hit high school. for all that high school sex i never had. but i was well instructed, and that's what counts.

punk found!

the punk odyssey continues this week because last night at 11pm a gentleman called from the the hidden valley region to say that punk had been a glorified member of his household for 2 weeks before being booted out to the shelter on dec 6. my mom called the shelter today, only to discover that punk in his inestimable cuteness was currently up for adoption at pet smart in the willow pass city sanctuary. i was then called and ordered to rush over and apprehend him for a miserable houdini master. to my surprise, i got there and discovered that saying a cat is your cat is not enough to clear his name. in fact, it takes $30.41 of hard-earned adoption money to get your own cat returned to you. a small price to pay in the end, for the return of the punk.

bubble head

you don't leave your house for four days and everything changes. your car grows impossibly taller, air touching your skin is a whole new experience, and your neighbors have put plastic deer out on the lawn.

i realized that it's not that my lungs have gotten better which caused the longer periods of free breathing between fits, but that i have adjusted everything about how i move and breathe to accommodate the fact that my lungs are now half the size they used to be. (the other half is orange. i don't know why this is so; but you can trust me on the color.)

if, for example, you time your pace with your exhale and breathe shallowly all the time, you can actually walk down the hallway and back without collapsing onto a couch at the end and dying. it's brilliant! i think my adaptability skills could conquer an ocean. throw me in the middle and i could grow fins and gills.

irks my turtle

bronchitis. i have fucking bronchitis. and the flu. and a temperature of 103.5. ok, i don't have that currently but i had it last night. this is shit. this is such shit. i did get $150 worth of free medication though. i love it when doctors feel sorry for you because you have no insurance and so they give you samples they have lying around the office. beautiful.

in which i almost give my digits to a curly haired high schooler named max

i just almost died!

i was driving along home from work and puttering at a good speed of 65, my car suddenly spun out of control, slid across 4 lanes sideways, and ended up facing oncoming freeway traffic.

i had to put the car in reverse to get to the side of the road where i practiced deep breathing techniques more for the appearance of things than out of a genuine need to calm down.

once i realized there was no way of stopping the car, it was actually kind of enjoyable. like a roller coaster. but then, yes, true, i could have been slammed by an oncoming 18 wheeler. also, the whole car almost flipped onto it's side when it stopped from sheer top heavy momentum. and then i had to drive all the way home from contra costa and boyd on regular streets cause i was too nervous to risk driving further on the freeway.

and my mom wants to take my car to oregon. thru snowy mountain passes! i may die driving yet.

thought process while walking thru the parking lot to class today:

hmm that boy standing on the curb is kind of cute from a distance. not that i can see all that far. crap these contacts suck ass. closer, still cute. holy crap, what does that say? is he honestly wearing a shirt that says, 'chicks dig pasty, scrawny guys'? who would do that? who would that work on? it's kind of endearing. argh! no! i fell for the shirt! goddammit!
