theoretically making $15.60/hour to sit on my ass, read my book*, and play on the internet should make me happy, but really what it makes me is bored.

i took some pictures of the lake this morning for kim who emailed me asking how i would make her jealous. of course, kim also called me (the wrong michele) accidentally at 6:30 this morning and made angry demands about some training program or test or something. so, basically, she is the devil.

*i’ve moved on to the masque of the balck tulip. nuala, it’s by the author of the secret history of the pink carnation! sequel! we read the pink carnation in new zealand, fyi. i thought it would be lame and i would get to leave it behind and have to carry one less book home with me. but no, it turned out to be brill and i had to carry it home and get reprimanded by the check-in lady for having over-the-weight-limit baggage.

$15.60? $15.60??!!! For Chrissake, I was making $13.75 as an officebot and now I’m about to be making less than $9 hauling around armfuls of heavy books. How is buying textbooks (or reading books with flowers in the title) worth $15.60?

the thing is, dianna, it’s not. also they pay for my gasoline (and like 2ce what i really paid for gasoline), hotel, and food. i’ve bought an absurd amount of food. i don’t eat this well at my mother’s house, let me tell you.

Okay, what I´ve pieced together from your last few posts and comments is that you´re, for some strange reason, working in a bookstore in lake tahoe. And that you´re ruining your bright young mind with books with flowers on the cover.

I won´t ask any questions–I just want to make sure you`ll be back by the 16th.

i’ll be home tomorrow night. i’m only on this job for 3 days. i was very careful when i accepted it to make sure it wasn’t the week you would be here. fuck no am i having a job when i could be having jason-time instead.

well you can, yes. but you will have to come get it, won’t you? i suppose i could mail it. but what if you never give it back like those roswell books of mine you still have? mind like an elephant, i tell you. if i don’t mail it, and you bring back my roswell books, i’ll loan it to you in february when you come up. and that is a promise you can stick to like glue.

Man, did I laugh a whole lot at Tinies this afternoon, Jason. At one point, I had to answer the phone and take a collect call from an inmate, and it was all I could do to keep from laughing inappropriately because I had just read the Tookie scene.

Oh I’ll bring up the Roswell books alright. Course maybe I should try and read them first. I’m horrible. The black tulip will not sit around for long though. Oh no….Was it good by the way? I mean it has to live up to the Pink Carnation

i haven’t actually finished it yet. but so far, yes, it’s awesome. it’s about henrietta and miles and then eloise and colin in the present still. i really like henrietta.
