i’ve made friends with some new high schoolers this year who are pretty delightful. yesterday i talked to one of them about japanese manga for a bit as i was trying to get an idea more of what they read (gantz) vs. what i read (fruits basket). he basically laughed at my selection until i told him that one he liked (tsubasa chronicles) uses characters from card captor sakura. suck on that, i said. pre-teen girl anime morphed into your tsubasa chronicle: tokyo revelation nonsense special OVA. whoa, otaku. kowaii, ne?
the man in charge of the peer tutors (who i am friends with too) was standing at the desk and he looked at us blankly for a minute and then demanded to know what language we were speaking. later when the teenager was gone he asked me what i knew about anime porn. ha ha ha! i love my job.
